There are 331 municipal broadband networks in the USA as of May 2020 , including a mix of dark fiber networks, Fiber to the Home networks, and business/residential services. We will update this page as we find new networks, mergers, or other changes which impact the number of municipal networks nationwide.
Note that this list might differ slightly from lists at other sources, due to different methodologies for determining when to count a network as its own entity due to network sharing arrangements. For example, some sources double-count a network if it crosses state lines, or is extended to a second town. We count these networks as single networks, so long as they do not maintain drastically different branding, customer-facing services, or utilize significant owned and operated network resources outside the line leasing/sharing agreement.
