Alejandro earned his Bachelor of Journalism from the University of North Texas in 2018, with a minor in Spanish and a President’s List award. He cut his teeth as a staff reporter for the North Texas Daily, covering local government and getting officials on the record, training in accuracy, sourcing and deadlines that still anchors his review work.
He began freelancing in tech journalism in 2019, writing for Shutterstock and its filmmaking-focused sister site PremiumBeat, then Input (now Inverse). Covering filmmaking gear at PremiumBeat pulled him behind the camera: he taught himself videography to properly test the equipment he was reviewing, and the craft became the career. Alejandro lives in Denver but is originally from South Texas — “The Valley,” as locals call the Rio Grande Valley. He almost never leaves the house without a camera in hand: he shoots film photography and recently taught himself to develop and scan film at home. Off the clock he collects and plays video game consoles, reads classic and contemporary fiction, comics and manga, and lives for the footy — Chelsea in the morning, and the Colorado Rapids, where he’s a season ticket holder, in the evening.
