Glad I switched to Coho
We just had our service about 4 months ago and began noticing the signal was slow in the evening. It got to a point where we couldn't stream a simple video, not to mention customer service is worthless as you have to go through an app for support. We searched for alternatives and found Whiz to Coho, which happens to be a local company in our area. We scheduled an installation right away and couldn't be happier with the service. Reliable internet for our rural living. Glad we switched.
BEST ISP I EVER HAD
By far the best ISP I have ever dealt with. Near rock solid connection at promised speeds, and the occasional hiccup is fixed within minutes to hours with a simple email to support. Whether you live in a remote area that requires fixed wireless for broadband or just sick of your utility's performance and customer service, I highly recommend Coho.
Its pretty meh just few alternatives
Well, its better than dial-up of course but also pretty expensive for what you get. Better latency than satellite (until low orbit sat. Internet becomes a consumer option). Their download speed is not exciting though for 2019 and upload is worse. Maybe 5-10 Mbps dl and 2-3 Mbps ul most of the time. Highly variable though as well. Essentially if you are in a rural area, this or satellite are your only choices in many cases. I have not seen the company upgrade their equipment to provide faster speeds either for a long time. Might be a limitation of their cellular technology or they don't feel much competitive pressure to do so. They do a pretty good job fixing outages due to weather.
Overall, pretty good for rural internet.
Customer Service: These guys are great to talk to. Always friendly, helpful and you're treated like a person/customer. For rural internet, the speed is pretty sweet. My connection has surprisingly low latency and I get my rated bandwidth consistently. It's better than I expected for rural internet. Regarding reliability, my connection was unstable for a while after I first signed up so I eventually called to talk about it. They informed me that the access point I was connected had issues that they have been debugging and they finally just replaced/upgraded that access point. That seemed to help the reliability issue for the most part, but I was still getting some inconsistent speeds/performance. I called again and they updated my transceiver and it seemed pretty solid ever since. Overall, I kind of wanted to give a 5-star rating because the people there are great and the performance is much better than anything else offered in the area but it's pricier so I went with 4 stars for value. In summary, if it came down to just customer service, I'd 1000% recommend these guys over the big ISPs in town but when you factor in speeds/costs, these guys are a bit expensive for the speeds you get. If you're in a rural area, you probably can't get a better deal or better people to work with.
Very intermittent
Download speeds fluctuate by the minute, from zero to more than our plan offers. Ok for casual users, but not stable enough for large downloads or streaming. On average we get 1/3 to 1/2 of the download speed we pay for, and we are on an upgraded service plan, not the cheapest. It’s our only option so we just have to embrace it.
Consistent, hassle-free and friendly service
I am a huge fan of COHO and have been for the past two and a half years. I live in a rural area just outside the service of both cable and Fios. COHO set up a fixed wifi dish that bounces a signal off a repeater attached to a barn across the valley. Surprisingly, the connection is rock solid; Nearly every time I've been without internet was due to power outages, and wifi is back online almost as fast as the lights. These guys have always been friendly and down to earth, and I've had not one single issue that didn't get resolved after a quick email or phone call. I have only one wish, and that's moar internets. I'm a huge nerd and make internet codes for work. I really *need* a "double your COHO" plan, at around twice the throughput currently offered (preferably not at twice the cost, though - hey, I'm wishing here). But there's nothing better - 4G, satellite - they all have drawbacks that make Whiz To Coho the clear winner. At least until I can get the neighbors to pitch in on laying fiber straight to the front door.
