Internet Access in Fulton, Arkansas

Viasat Internet has the most coverage in Fulton. HughesNet is also widely available.

We should note that since FCC data is collected biannually and only published 6+ months after filing, data shown here may have minor inaccuracies. This page incorporates direct provider reporting to help reduce the lag time.

Southwest Arkansas Telephone Cooperative is another commonly available broadband choice for Fulton, offering Fiber service in 88 percent of Fulton. T-Mobile Home Internet offers an alternative wireless service for 56 percent of local residents, although it has to have roof access or line of site with a T-Mobile Home Internet tower or access point.

Wireless Internet options like satellite suffer from a variety of caveats that make wireless options less than optimal for broadband Internet connectivity. Limited data use ("data caps") present the biggest problem.

In summary, the Internet situation could stand improvement in Fulton, but the average household still has at least 2 companies able to connect the address. For now, only 800 Fulton residents are limited to one or fewer options.

Fulton is the 252nd most connected city in Arkansas ahead of Mineral Springs, but behind Hope, Texarkana, Ashdown, and Texarkana.

The “Connected” metric is a citywide average based on FCC data showing the density of broadband options at the census block level.

Approximately 3,000 people in Hempstead County don't have access to any wired internet.

This statistic is drawn from the population in census blocks not served by at least one wired broadband provider.

Fiber Availability: 91% of people living in Fulton have residential fiber service available to them.

Fiber coverage data is sourced from FCC Form 477 filings and cross-validated through BroadbandNow with private datasets and direct provider reporting.

Approximately 26% of Fulton residents are serviced by multiple wired providers.

This coverage statistic is based on a mix of FCC and private provider reporting in the past two quarters.

In Hempstead County, approximately 6,000 people do not have access to 25 Mbps wired broadband.

25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload is the minimum speed for an Internet connection to be classified as “Broadband” by the FCC.

Data Cap Issues in Fulton

Data from our market researchers shows that some of the top ISPs in the area currently place some sort of limit on data use for their residential Internet packages. Data caps are a public issue since customers see them as a tactic for limiting "cord cutting". Providers insist they are a reasonable strategy for managing network traffic. Either way, the issue is over-the-top streaming services, which easily eats up 1–7GB per hour.

Customer Reviews of Internet Providers in Fulton

Very rural DSL at 20Mbps.

I am the literally the last customer on the line for SWAT in this area. My house and all of my neighbors on one side are with SWAT. On the other side, it becomes Walnut Hill Telephone. I have a rock solid DSL connection and I live 20 miles from any decent sized town. I've been with SWAT since they started offering DSL some 16 years ago at 768kbps, it's up to 20Mbps, and they are currently laying the fiber right now for 100Mbps. Very good, and especially considering that this is from a small local COOP. Great customer service, tech support call center is in Little Rock. Great people, and if you have a problem, their office is in Texarkana. You simply cannot beat SWAT in this area.
