Best HughesNet Internet Deals Right Now
HughesNet satellite internet is one of the best internet providers for those living in rural areas who may not have access to traditional cable or fiber internet plans. Though satellite internet is not always the fastest choice on the market, HughesNet offers plenty of incentives to choose its service over the competition. The best deals on offer right now include:
- $20 off your monthly bill for the first six months of service on 10-50 GB plans
- $100 instant savings with purchase of HughesNet satellite equipment for new residential subscribers (offer ends Dec. 28, 2021)
- $5 off per month on your equipment lease fee
- Six months of Norton 360 Deluxe for free (on 5 devices)
HughesNet Internet-Only Deals
Typically, acquiring satellite internet is expensive due to installation costs. Fortunately, this is not an issue with HughesNet. All HughesNet internet-only plans come with free home installation if you choose to lease their equipment, regardless of your location.
As one of the largest providers of satellite internet in the United States, HughesNet charges some of the lowest monthly premiums on the market, especially for customers signing a long-term contract. All the internet-only plans have the same stipulations. The promotional rates last for the first six months of the contract, after which time the standard rate applies. To qualify for the promotional rate, you must sign a two-year contract.
While the data caps may seem rather limiting, HughesNet does offer an additional 50 GB of free data usage per month during non-peak hours (2 a.m. – 8 a.m.). Fortunately, you will not be charged a fee if you go over your data cap, but your download speeds will be throttled to around 3 Mbps. If you wish to regain your standard speeds after going over your data limit, you can purchase “Data Tokens,” which cost roughly $3 per GB.
New and existing HughesNet customers receive a significant discount if they qualify for the Emergency Broadband Benefit. Existing customers must apply for the discount at https://getemergencybroadband.org/, then contact HughesNet customer service to sign up for it.
HughesNet Internet Fees
Outside of the monthly rate, each customer is subject to installation and equipment fees. Currently, HughesNet is offering a $5 discount on the monthly equipment fee. You may also need to pay an early termination fee (ETF) if you cancel service before your contract ends.
HughesNet offers the option to lease equipment or buy it outright. The various fees associated with each choice are included below.
|HughesNet Sign-up Costs||Buy||Lease|
|Equipment Fee (Satellite Antenna and Modem)||$349.98||$9.99 per month|
|Lease Setup Fee||N/A||$99 one-time fee|
If you’re confident that you’re going to use your HughesNet internet plan for a long time, it may make more sense to buy the equipment outright. You’ll break even in less than three years; however, if your satellite breaks when it’s out of warranty, you may be on the hook for repairs.
HughesNet often offers to waive the lease setup fee if you’d rather lease equipment.
HughesNet Bundle Deals
HughesNet doesn’t offer a discount when you bundle its home phone Voice of Internet Protocol (VoIP) – HughesNet Voice – with an internet plan. However, HughesNet currently offers $10 off the service for six months and free HughesNet Voice equipment, which saves you $75 in equipment fees. These offers end October 26, 2021.
How to Lower Your HughesNet Bill
The best way to lower your HughesNet bill is to opt for a long-term internet plan. If you want to bundle services, you can save even more by adding DIRECTV and HughesNet Voice when you sign up.
You can also avoid going over your data cap to keep your bill as low as possible. While HughesNet does not charge overage fees, you may be tempted to buy Data Tokens to restore your internet speed, which could quickly add up if you use a lot of data. You can keep your bill low by avoiding Data Tokens and making use of the extra 50 GB of monthly data during non-peak hours.
