Very slow & unusable after 5pm & on weekends
Extremely slow internet service. Each weekday at about 5 pm the service is so slow you cannot stream news, or movies or check email online. Service on the weekends is the same. Expect service interruptions when there is bad weather. Normally service is restored within 48hrs. If you do not need the internet to work after 5 pm or on the weekends, this internet provider's service is acceptable.
Good company, slow speeds.
Now I am just a renter and this internet is provided by the landlord, the landlord also has his own custom router installed so this could be attributed to the problem with the slow speeds. I have dealt with 3 blackouts in the last year that would range from 2 days (which was at the start of COVID) to about 30 minutes. Their Customer Service is fantastic, well-informed people who are kind and patient. I do not know my speeds because of my landlord but I have about a 10ms ping slower than my mates to the same servers when we live a block away from each other. I get a usable 2-16mbps down depending on the time of day, and a consistent 20mbps up. Great for upstreaming video when I am hosting video tutoring sessions and uploading recordings online, not so great if I need to download files.
Hard working group of guys!
We recently had a tornado and the guys at our local office worked after hours to get it fixed. I know They could have gone home and made it the next day. But, they stayed probably 4 hours late getting it back on for people. I appreciate Consolidated in our area.
Bad customer service, speed is almost never what you are paying for
Reliability is below average. Customer service is awful... they don’t show up and they never call!
Con review
Sub par service across the board. High-priced but it's the only game in town.
Great service
Reliable internet for the price you can't go wrong, have had them for three years, no complaints.
Need to update their system
Customer Service is ok sometimes you get someone who knows their stuff sometimes not. They do seem quite reliable. At my location speed is non-existent. 3 Mbps per line, 7 Mbps with two lines bonded. There's a cell tower within a half mile of my house connected to fiber seems they could put a DSL switch there and provide faster speeds.
Not bad
It's reliable, low-latency, symmetrical fiber with no monthly limit. But it's sad that 100Mbps is as fast as fiber goes and the price you pay for it in the year 2018. C'mon Consolidated, upgrade the equipment already. I'm ready to go 10Gbps now.
I love Fairpoint/consolidated communications
I currently have service with cable, internet, and telephone. My bill is around $200/month, no extra anything. The bill is very high. I can get the three plus premier channels and DVR significantly lower. The customer service is wonderful. It’s the price that makes me cringe. I have had service for over ten years.
Really slow internet!
Nice people at Consolidated, but their internet service leaves a lot to be desired. We currently have download speeds of 3 Mbps. Hardly worth having.
Poor signal
I got the 18Mbps fiber and it is very slow. when there are a lot of gadgets linked to my wifi then it stops working. Sometimes I have to move different spots to get a signal.
Good company
Technical support service is very good. Customer support, billing support, on-site support needs a lot of improvement. They furnish old equipment and do a lot of patchworks to make it work together.
