To summarize, Mcdonough's broadband infrastructure follows a similar pattern to other Georgia metro areas: widespread coverage for cable and DSL, with the problem being that most houses or apartments are stuck with one provider for subscribing to either type of Internet service. The cable/DSL pattern comes from the fact that Broadband Internet providers used to be TV and landline telephone companies. So, they use these legacy wired networks for delivering Internet bundles. Fiber service has been expanding as a third option, and while some plans marketed as "Fiber" plans aren't actually 100% "Fiber to the Home" (FTTH) connections, 55.54 percent of the area is covered by fiber Internet stretching as far as the street outside. Owing to healthy provider competition in Mcdonough, the local average download speed is 11.70 percent ahead of the Georgia average across all cities. Data Cap Issues Around Mcdonough

Data collected by our researchers shows that some of the popular ISPs use data caps for their residential Internet connections. Data caps are a public issue because users see caps as a tactic to stop "cord cutting". Providers maintain they are a reasonable strategy as they struggle to manage network traffic. Either way, the problem is the same: streaming services, which can consume 1–7GB per hour.

Customer Reviews of Internet Providers in Mcdonough

Very pleased

We switched to Charter and could not be happier. The guys that came to install were absolutely amazing! Very kind and helpful with all of our questions. We had 1 issue with the service being out for about 30 mins but they sent someone out to us who resolved it in no time!!! Our business runs strictly on the internet. Charter, ya'll are great! Thank you!

Pros and Cons

The good: High-speed service outages are rare, speeds are higher than competitors, the prices are fair, maintenance/repair technicians show up during scheduled times and call before arriving, the customer service reps (via phone) are courteous and helpful. The bad: Customers can no longer use their own modems on Charter's network (though there aren't modem leasing fees now), service calls are minimum $50, online support reps seem clueless.
