Corvallis is the 45th most connected city in Oregon ahead of Albany, Tangent, Monmouth, Monroe, and Philomath.

The “Connected” metric is a citywide average based on FCC data showing the density of broadband options at the census block level.

Approximately 2,000 people in Benton County don't have access to any wired internet.

This statistic is drawn from the population in census blocks not served by at least one wired broadband provider.

Approximately 92% of Corvallis residents are serviced by multiple wired providers.

This coverage statistic is based on a mix of FCC and private provider reporting in the past two quarters.

In Benton County, approximately 3,000 people do not have access to 25 Mbps wired broadband.

25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload is the minimum speed for an Internet connection to be classified as “Broadband” by the FCC.

When setting up a home network for telecommuting, be sure to check data limitations on your package. Many residential Internet packages have data caps. This can be difficult if you consume a lot of data for work purposes. Business-class connections should be provided if you need more than a typical residential deal.

Data Caps in Corvallis

Internet providers have decided to impose data "plans" to their home broadband plans as of late. The market trend holds true for Corvallis, with local Internet choices like Xfinity advertising plans with data caps. This doesn't matter for the majority of residents, but it may affect those that download or upload a large amount of high-def video. Caps on cable bundles are usually in the neighborhood of 1 Terabyte. This is a problem for fewer than one percent of Internet users, according to reports from Xfinity. Potential Xfinity customers in Corvallis should verify data use policies before signing a contract.

Customer Reviews of Internet Providers in Corvallis

Moderately Better Than Nothing

It took us years to get service, and we have no choice since Centurylink is the only provider available and we get no cell service at our home. It took years because they would not listen to us. All of our neighbors had service, but we were listed as not serviceable. We kept telling them that our fire number is wrong and they kept telling us that we were just too far away from the node. We finally flagged down a tech when he was working on the neighbor's and he verified they had us being two miles down the road attached to a different pedestal. Now that we have service, it's better than nothing, but not much. It disconnects at least once an hour, and usually more. I work from home and it is a struggle since I have to wait for it to reconnect and then log back into calls. We only live 3 miles from town so we aren't completely rural. Our download speed usually runs around 6Mbps and the upload about .6Mbps. If I have to upload files for work, I have to drive to town and use the library. It doesn't stay connected long enough to upload a file, nor is it quick enough. It will stream through our Roku but it buffers frequently, and of course disconnect.

Good

They are good overall. A little slow. Not great for LAN parties, but still good.
