When it comes to internet availability in Winston-Salem, you’ll first need to decide if you want cable or fiber internet. If you want cable internet, then you’re in luck; Spectrum covers of Winston-Salem. On the other hand, if you want fiber internet, it’s less available; AT&T Fiber only covers of the city. Before making your decision, let’s look a little closer at these two companies and their coverage of the area.

While Spectrum does have almost universal coverage of Winston-Salem, there are some areas where you may not have access to this cable internet provider. If you live in East Winston — especially near Columbia Heights and Winston Salem State University — Spectrum might not be available. Otherwise, outside of some spots near Wake Forest University and a few patches near Salem Lake, you’re likely to have access to Spectrum.

If you’re looking for more speed through AT&T Fiber, you may find yourself searching a bit more. AT&T Fiber dominates West Winston — especially between Silas Creek Parkway and University Parkway; it’s also prevalent in many areas along the highway near Harmony Grove. You’ll also find AT&T Fiber in the neighborhoods near Smith Reynolds Airport and in homes on the south side of Salem Lake in the Woodbridge area.

That said, if you live around Charlton Farms, toward Pfafftown, or along Robinhood Road, you are going to have a more difficult time accessing AT&T Fiber. Also, AT&T Fiber doesn’t extend much to towns such as Kernersville east of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway.
