Internet Access in Fairfield Texas

Fairfield features a total of 5 Internet providers with residential service, and a total of 10 including specialized business and mobile providers such as Nextlink Internet. (Some may be "doubles" as many incumbent providers market residential service and business service under separate branches.)

Considering network technology in use within the area, we see that the most prevalent wired Internet tech types are Cable and Satellite, with 73.54% and close to one hundred% respectively. Cable Internet is marketed by former cable TV companies, using their already-built coaxial cable TV networks. [1] Fairfield subscribers to cable providers such as Northland Communications usually pick it because of the combination of low prices for workable speeds. (Compared to the alternatives, anyway.)

Since the majority of houses are only wired for one landline telephone (DSL) provider and one cable TV company, the average home in Fairfield has 2-3 wired Internet options to choose from (2.48 per census block specifically). 22.8% of Fairfield residents — 1,000 people — are limited to one or fewer choices. Regardless of alternative services with local coverage, such as wireless, cable and DSL broadband almost always provide the best pricing for home use.

The broadband coverage data on this page is primarily sourced from FCC filings specific to the area, and is using privatized databases and direct provider reporting to create more accurate results than is available from the FCC directly. Speed and pricing data is sourced by manually collecting thousands of plans each year.

According to the latest FCC data and direct provider reporting, Viasat Internet (formerly Exede) and HughesNet are the strongest providers in Fairfield as measured by coverage area. As the interactive maps below illustrate, these providers frequently cover the same addresses around Fairfield.

Data Caps in Fairfield

Both of the most common broadband options in Fairfield currently have data limitations, although the data limit may change depending on the package selected. Data caps are a public issue because subscribers see caps as a tactic for limiting streaming, while providers maintain that caps are a reasonable strategy as they struggle to manage network traffic. Either way, the problem is the same: streaming services, which can eat up 1–7GB per hour.

Customer Reviews of Internet Providers in Fairfield

Our only choice

We have a multi-user household and to start off we pay over $100 for our internet and most of the time can't stably keep about 6 Mbps out of the 100 Mbps download we have. That is first of all insulting as a consumer and shameful from an ISP. Once our users access the connection, it can drop to as low as 0.5 Mbps or lower. Our modem resets daily for no reason even after multiple service orders to fix it. Northland is overpriced for its services as is and is severely unstable. I'm very sad to say they are the only cable internet provider we have access too.
