Ashland is the 102nd most connected city in Oregon ahead of Jacksonville and Eagle Point, but behind Medford, Talent, and Phoenix.

The “Connected” metric is a citywide average based on FCC data showing the density of broadband options at the census block level.

Approximately 4,000 people in Jackson County don't have access to any wired internet.

This statistic is drawn from the population in census blocks not served by at least one wired broadband provider.

Approximately 91% of Ashland residents are serviced by multiple wired providers.

This coverage statistic is based on a mix of FCC and private provider reporting in the past two quarters.

In Jackson County, approximately 10,000 people do not have access to 25 Mbps wired broadband.

25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload is the minimum speed for an Internet connection to be classified as “Broadband” by the FCC.

Internet for Education in Ashland

Economic development studies often find a strong correlation between broadband availability and performance in schooling. For education, home Internet access is practically a necessity as universities including Southern Oregon University migrate to web-based systems to share out-of-class work. Looking at 4,224 speed tests reported in the past annum at addresses within two miles of Southern Oregon University campus, performance averages are close to 38.12 Mbps — far above the lowest speeds needed for streaming video and operating hosted or communication platforms.

Data Cap Issues in Ashland

Data collected by our market researchers shows that many of the common ISPs currently use data caps on home Internet packages. Data caps are controversial since consumers view caps as a tactic for limiting video streaming, while providers insist caps are a necessary strategy for managing network traffic. Either way, the issue is streaming services, which easily consumes anywhere from 1–7GB/hr.

Customer Reviews of Internet Providers in Ashland

Rock Solid Service

When I first moved out to Sam's Valley, I was crushed to find that the ISP providing DSL to the house I just bought was cutting off access. This was problematic as I work remotely, and I ended up spending $250 a month through a cellular ISP, just to be able to work. Rogue Broadband came out and did a free site survey, and I found that I was able to get service through them. I've had Rogue Broadband for almost 4 years now, and I can't say enough good things about this company. I've used cable Internet, DSL, satellite, and 4G LTE Internet, and I'm finding that Rogue Broadband is one of the most valuable and reliable. It doesn't even blip when it's raining, snowing, and even when it's smoky! As I work in IT, reliability is extremely important for what I do for work, as I need a stable Internet, 24/7, in case I get called to fix something. Rogue Broadband is more than enough for me to work and stream videos at the same time. Also, the service offers low latency, so online gaming is fantastic, and web pages load almost instantly. Not everyone needs a wireless ISP, but if you can't get wired Internet, contact Rogue Broadband and see if they can service your location.

Reliable Service, great customer support!

I was having internet issues after normal business hours and David was able to help me get going again! You guys rock.
